Industrial Automation Academy - The Story So Far .....
I hope these first few post's help to define what we have at the Academy.
So far I've detailed the key mechatronic modules within our Industrial Automation Suite No:1. The video files speak for themselves.
Suite No:2 is next, here we have a Flexible Manufacturing Suite that includes a Fanuc robot. Then finally, I'll detail the Process system rig in exactly the same way.
The Automation suite's are located in the new extension to the Training Centre which is known as the 'CORE' facility, Create Opportunity Realise Excellence, the ambience and the standard of the equipment go a long way to achieving this title.
I attended the Training Centre in 1981/82, as an apprentice electrical/electronic engineer representing Flymo Ltd, oh how things have changed !
Having worked in the Controls arena for some 30 years, attending training facilities all over the world with the likes of Siemens and ABB, I'm very proud to say that none of them match what we have here in Newton Aycliffe.
In addition to the specific's of our training equipment, I will also be creating post's that help to define our training objectives for the Academy.
Should you require any further information then please don't hesitate to call me.

Industrial Automation Academy - Container to Despatch - Highly Automated System
The final stage of the Highly Automated System.
The finished container is removed from the warehouse and transferred to the despatch station.
The container is removed from the main transfer conveyor and placed onto the temporary storage tilt conveyor.
Once the correct amount of containers are present, the tilt conveyor is activated and the containers are transferred to despatch.

Industrial Automation Academy - Container to Warehouse - Highly Automated System
This station transfers the container into the warehouse / store area.
Two servo controlled linear actuators are used to remove the container from the conveyor. A rotary actuator helps to locate within two separate racks.
A HMI is used to select the required storage location and initiate the removal of containers for transfer on to despatch.

In adding servo control and a Human Machine Interface (HMI), the Highly Automated System provides trainees with an excellent insight into the world of Mechatronics.
